The Old Slave Mart Museum offers special staff-led programming for school field trips, professional organizations, family reunions, alumni associations, and other groups.   • Slavery and the Slave Trade at Ryan’s Mart

Staff-led program that interprets the history of Ryan’s Mart and teaches visitors about the history of the slave trade in Charleston and the antebellum South. If requested in advance, staff members can tailor your group’s program to focus on additional aspects of the enslaved experience and African American history.

Duration: Approx. 1 hour
Ages: 4th grade – Adult
Cost: $4.00 per person

  • The Old Slave Mart Scavenger Hunt

Learn about the history of Ryan’s Mart and the slave trade with an on-site lecture, then search the city with provided scavenger hunt maps highlighting other locations related to Ryan’s Mart and African American history.

Duration: Approx. 1 hour
Ages: 4th grade – Adult
Cost: $6.00 per person

The Old Slave Mart offers customized multi-site tours in partnership with other local historic sites, including the Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, the Powder Magazine, and the Heyward-Washington House. Please describe your desired combination in the comments section.
